The Ride Introduces the Peloton Program

The Ride Introduces the Peloton Program

June 14th, 2019  |  The Ride

Madison, Wis. – The Ride, the University of Wisconsin-Madison cancer research benefit announces a newly designed program that allows companies to engage in the annual fundraising cycling event which provides one-hundred percent of its proceeds to University of Wisconsin cancer research and treatment efforts.

“The philanthropic support from our community and corporate partners accelerates the translation of the scientific advancements of our world class cancer researchers into innovative, life-saving treatments. The Peloton Program is a wonderful example of the active role that a corporation can play in promoting scientific discoveries and advancing patient care.”

-Robert N. Golden, MD

Dean, University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health

The program is built to enable individual companies to participate in The Ride while offering their employees and members a sense of team comradery through branded presence at the event. Each organization has the ability to structure their peloton team by subsidizing a percentage of the registration fee for its participating employees or by deferring the registration costs to its participants, in which one-hundred percent goes directly to UW cancer research efforts.

Not only does the Peloton Program allow for our employees to give back to cancer research and treatment initiatives here at UW through our involvement in The Ride, it also provides our team a wonderful wellness initiative to encourage active lifestyles throughout our business units.”

-Kris Roesken

Director of Business Development, Badgerland Disposal

The Ride was started by The University of Wisconsin to engage the community and propel forward the most innovative cancer research. To date, it has generated nearly one-million dollars in its first three years and has funded over 30 professors, programs and students across the UW campus.  The initiative prides itself in providing one-hundred percent of its proceeds to local UW cancer research efforts through its generous support from community partners.

Participants of the Peloton Program have the ability to register for any of the five available routes (3-mile, 17-mile, 34-mile, 63-mile, 102-mile) which feature the same start and finish location located at the American Family Insurance headquarter campus at 6000 American Family Parkway in Madison. The 3-mile route, which is catered to adults and children will be solely contained within the American Family Insurance campus and will not utilize any public roads.
